Holistic horse care to produce optimal health and soundness is simple; proper Nutrition, Environment, and Trimming.
NUTRITION
Provide good quality hay- at a minimal of twice per day.
Whole Oats
Free choice to loose minerals
Free choice to clean water
Low starch grain for working horses only. The amount of grain given should match the amount of work that is being required from the horse. Avoid grain with molasses or cane. Non-working or lightly working horses do not need grain.
ENVIRONMENT
The optimal choice is for your horse to have 24/7 freedom to movement (paddock with other horses or in a paddock paradise track). But, in most cases, that’s not possible. You’re welcome to ask Rose about more information about a paddock paradise track system.
A Clean and Dry paddock or pen is very important.
Consider Pea-Gravel about four inches deep in a section of the paddock. Not only do horses like to stand it, it will help to toughen up their soles.
TRIMMING
Non-invasive natural hoof care by a certified practitioner on a regular 6-7 week basis.
